The Torchwood actor says he did not rule himself out of the programme.

John Barrowman has revealed that he is “really upset” about not being included in the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special.

He has said that he was not approached to take part in the show, contrary to some speculation.

He explained: “Everyone on Twitter tries to make it like it’s my decision, but the bottom line is I was not asked.

“The producers don’t want to put Jack in it. And I know fans are really upset about it, as was I.”

“People have tried to say it’s my schedule - it’s absolutely not. I was told by the producers of Arrow that if I was asked to do the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who they’d let me go and do it.

“It was nothing to do with my schedule. It’s just a matter of fact that I wasn’t asked.”

Here’s my story of meeting John Barrowman for the second time the other day, just because all of tumblr and his fans need to know how truly amazing he actually is….

Straight away I asked John if he remembered meeting me backstage (thanks to Make-A-Wish) in Toronto 5 years ago and he completely remembered! I reminded him of what he’d told me (which was that he was certain I’d get better and stronger and that when I do I have to come find him not in my wheelchair next time) and he looked so happy and pleased that what he had told me had had such a huge impact on me. He said something along the lines of “I say these things, and of course I truly mean them, but I don’t necessarily expect them to have any effect or to come true. But look at you! You look amazing and this is fabulous and I had no idea, I just had no idea!” he then gave me a round of applause).

Then, and this is the big exciting bit that made me cry, he said “seriously, can you send me and email with your whole story fully explained and high resolution before and after photos of you at your sickest and now? Please do, because you know why? I want to talk about you in my next concert tour. Would that be ok?”

ummmm……. let’s just let that sink in a minute……. I mean…….. what. just. what. I was taken so by surprise and joy that I just burst into tears!

This man is completely unbelievable. He seemed genuine too, and I don’t think it’s something he just says to everyone…. maybe it will never happen, I’m not getting my hopes up toooo much, but come on - to be told that by your lifelong hero is like a dream come true. He gave me his business card and told me I better send that email asap!

I then cheekily asked for a photo with him (which wasn’t allowed for time constraint reasons) and him and his security said of course no problem, he then announced to the entire crowd that he was sorry but he had to make one exception to the rule today because “I healed this girl, I am her personal jesus!” we then took a photo shouting “hallelujah!” in our most over the top american accents lol, he reiterated that I need to send that email, and we parted ways with him signing in my book -

“You kept on trucking’ and now look at you! I had no idea. John Barrowman”
(‘Keep on truckin’ is what he wrote on my old wheelchair)

What a spectacular human being! Bravo Barrowman, you remind me everyday that “I am what I am” and that I am just fine that way ♥
